Understanding Brake Release and Corner Entry
How the brake is released matters as much as where it is applied.

Braking performance is often judged by the brake point. Yet the release phase — how pressure comes off as steering goes on — shapes rotation and minimum speed.
Trail braking and rotation
Keeping some brake pressure into the corner keeps load on the front axle, helping the car turn. Releasing too abruptly can leave the car unloaded at the front and reluctant to rotate.
What to look for in the data
- Shape of the pressure trace as it falls
- Overlap between brake release and steering input
- Minimum speed relative to a reference lap
